View Full Version : Gravid at last!
I was very very pleased to find my Jungle female is now gravid by my 50% Jungle Jaguar male recently!

I wasn`t totally sure she was gravid at first, there`s not much palpating her, she`s too muscular for that but then, after seperating her because I was fairly sure she was gravid, I start seeing this....

She`s inverting her belly on a regular basis, nice ;D Now I`m sure, she`s gravid!! Glad I seperated them now. She`s not too far off being ready to lay I don`t think, she shed about a week and a half ago so I think she should lay inside of three weeks....
Does anyone know what I`ll get Jungle Jaguar wise if the male is 50%?
I should get about fourty percent of the babies Jungle Jaguar and about fifty percent Jungle shouldn`t I? It`s all go now! Just as planned, I have two gravid snakes at the moment and I`ve got some eggs due to hatch any time now too :) Sweet....

75% jungle jags mate.cant wait too see them,congratulations feeb's:blink:
you've got dad who's 50% jungle 50% jaguar.
you've got mum who's 100% jungle
your babys will have a 75% jungle influence.
you will get visual jagaurs = what we call over here 75%jun/jags
you will get non visual jungle/jaguar siblings =what we call over here jun/jag sibs
hope this helps pal
cheers shaun
Cheers mate :) So they`ll only have 25% of the Jaguar, but are still absolutely beautiful! Just no spots, which is what you get as you approach 100% Jaguar. That`s about right isn`t it? The non vis ones won`t be het either will they I don`t think...

gonesnakee might explain it more clearer but i'll give it a go mate.
its easier for me to break it in to two parts
the jaguar gene.
the visual jaguars, the ones that look like a jag will be 100% jaguar as its a co dominant colour and pattern mutation,so they are either jaguars or not.you do not get percentages of jaguar or het for jaguar (they are either visually a jaguar or not jaguars in any way).
since it is a co dom you should get roughly half visual jaguars the other half will be just siblings with no visual jaguar markings and they will not carry the jaguar gene.
the ones with no jaguar markings will not be jaguars but jungle jaguar siblings.
the 75% refers to how much jungle influence has been put in.usually the higher percentage of jungle usually gives the snake a better yellow and a better black.it influences the colours in this case.
i wrote a bit about it on a post on here and gonesnakee helped explain the bits i did not explain very well i'll go try find it for you.
cheers shaun

The key thing is there is no such thing as a partial percentage "Jaguar".
Its either 100% (a visual Jaguar) or 0% (not a Jaguar).
The percentages refer to the subspecies influence & have nothing to do with Jagaur as it is just a color/pattern morph that can be bred into any of the various subspecies.
The jaguar gene of course orginated in Coastals thus why all the percentages when bred into other subspecies etc.
No matter what every single Jag ever will also have at least some percentage of Coastal in it, Mark
Cheers Mark :) Yeah Arnie does have some Coastal in him. He`s such a sweetheart though, he`s pushing ten feet now, weighs nearly nine pounds and he`s so gentle it`s unreal for this species. He gets a bit hissy if I keep him out for too long but I think that`s just because handling can`t be super comfortable for him. One of the most interesting things about also, he turns pink when in feed mode! lol

The turning pink when feeding usually refered to as blushing is a common Diamond trademark. They do it every time they eat, its pretty neat.
Maybe he has some in him as Jungles don;t typically do so?
Oh & as for the out come as has been kind of stated ALL the offspring will be 75% JCP & 25% CCP (from a 50%JCP/50%CCP to a pure JCP) & the odds are approx 1/2 of them will be Jaguars, Mark
