Cheers mate. They eat mice and rats readily in captivity. They can reach 2.4 meters bout usually 1.8. They are very eay to keep dont need lots of humidy just temps of 30-32 degrees celcius at the hot end and 24 cool end so very easy.

Wow, that is really cool- I've never heard that scientific name before; what's its common name?

percey39

cheers, its common name is collett's black snake. The orange eventually goes a blood red which is just as stunning. The parents of this guy were awesome looking, one of them was blood red pattern and the other was the same orange as this one. Both the parents were 10 years old so this one should hold strong patterns for the entirity of its life.

Are they venomous?

percey39
02-02-10, 04:24 AM
yes they are venomous i believe they are the 19th most deadly in the world. One bite off one of these and you will lose your sense of smell and taste for 6 months and possibly permanently, they also cause renal failure. Hopefully i will never have to experience this

hi guys one more picture, sorry about the quality it was off my phone and its flash has washed out all the colours. Please dont judge with the free handling i do this with all my snakes, i find with contant handling from young all snakes venomous or not can be some what tame. I have venoms that handle so much better than pythons its not funny.

I might also be picking up a 3 year old australaps superbus or common known as copperhead as well this afternoon. I cant wait only 3 more hours and i will have my new house mates

hi again i got these guys on friday. The copperhead is three years old and the two tigers are under two weeks old, they just had to assist fed two small fish. Im just glad they kept them down as it was their fist feed since they were born.
The tigers will eventually go a golden brown on the body while the head will be a blue grey colour. The copperhead has a real nice copper glow to it but its hard to capture with a camera, you can still sort of make out the white lips and brows in the photo.
Enjoy, Aaron
