He's just over a year old and about an inch and a quarter thick.
He's been on pinkies but I think Rat Fuzzies (19grams approx?) is what he should be on now. I have to order at least a pack of 50 for it to be worth it via mail so I can't really try one out first being no pet shops near me sell any that size.

Also...anyone have any good recomandations for ordering rats via the mail?

PS..The photo makes him look a bit larger then he really is.

It would be more helpful if you took a picture of him on the ground next to something for size reference; pop can, beer bottle, stick of deodorant, etc, that way you can get a better answer! Pinkies definatley are too small though, and I might even go to hoppers, but again we need better size reference
Thanks!:)

Should likely be on hopper or weaned rats. Prey should be as thick as its thickest girth & even upto 1.5 times its thickest girth. Anywhere from 1 to 3 prey items at a time depending on how large they are compared to its girth.
Example same girth as the snake 2-3 at a time, 1.5 times its girth maybe only 1 at a time.
Feed every 7-10 days, Mark

Thanks everyone...and yeh...I thought his food could be 1 1/2 x his girth which should make rat fuzzies approx 19 grams the right thing to feed him. I'll try and get another pic of him next to something a standard size like my cell phone and a ruler.

I just wish the local pet shops had something like a 19 gram fuzzie so I can buy just a cpl to try it out be4 I buy a pack of 24-50 through the mail. The local pet shops only seem to sell real tiny..or real large rats...nothin' inbetween.

Odd, but I tried getting into Rodentpro's website for the past week but Safari or Foxfire won't let me in on my Mac...weird:confused:

Finally got into Rodentpro's site...I bought 50 rat pups. Said they're 19 grams and up. They looked better/bigger than the fuzzies plus they were on sale. 50 of em shipped for about $60.

The "weaned" rats looked to be a hair big,,not really sure.
I figure I can always feed my JCP more if he's still hungry then move up to weaned in 6 months or when ever the 50 run out.
Thanks people : )~~~~

Its better to error on the smaller side as all he prey can still be used just feed extra items. if you get stuff that is too big, well it will just be too big then yep ;) Mark

The size difference between rat pups and weanlings is usually not too great, but varies from supplier to supplier. I feed my yearling JCP rat weanlings, but he is a good size. He's about 3.5 feet.

Also those 2nd & 3rd years are like their "teenage years" lots of growing & maturing going on ;) Mark
