I'm new here and not certain if this is in the correct forum, but...I am currently researching getting a baby Brazilian Rainbow Boa in the near future. What can you tell me about them? Can anyone direct me towards a few reputable breeders?
Thank you so much!

You might start with your local herp society: Chicago Herpetological Society (http://www.chicagoherp.org/)
Get some names from them. Also search on the Internet, and then go to the BOI (Board of Inquiry) to check out their reputations: FaunaClassifieds (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/search.php?searchid=578628)
Good luck!

I have a Peruvian rainbow boa. They are very similar to BRBs, and at first glance you'd think the same. But the PRB tends to be a bit brighter and has a longer, "fox-like" nose. They aren't too hard to keep, but need very high humdity, 70-90%, so it's best to have an automatic mister for them. I have mine set to mist every other hour from 8am-8pm for 30 seconds, then again at midnight for 30 seconds. Also rainbow boas prefer much cooler temps than most other snakes, 75-80 degrees is ideal. Never let it get higher than 90 degrees, they will puke and sometimes die. I think it is because the enzymes in their bodies have adapted for the cooler temps of their natural environment and denature at higher temps. I got mine from Ben Seigel reptiles, and I was very impressed with them. Do a Fauna search and be sure to check anyone out before buying. Good luck, they are beautiful, fascinating snakes.
