A new petstore opend up in my city and i went there to see and i stole a

little baby boa from there because, i needed to he was selling skinny

unhealthy mite infested animals. This dude had a 2 ball pythons 2 burmese

pythons, and 3 boas all in the same small cage and they looked stressed and

vary unhealthy, i looked and all of them had mites crawling around on them

and the cage all of the snakes there were skinny and the bedding was dry

like it had never been misted, the water bowl was empty (BONE DRY)

and there was snake poop all over in the small cage that all of the boas and

pythons were in and it looked like there was mold growing off of the poop it

was gross how tha hell can people think it's ok for them to sit in that. the

guy should have gotten more cages, he had plenty for sale but he should

have set up different tanks for different snakes not have them all in one cage

and also tha snakes were way over priced $170.00 for a baby columbian boa

and tha burmesse python which was about 4 ft long he was trying to sell for

$250.00 rediclaous for unhealthy animals, when i seen the baby boas there

was 2 of them and i asked him if i could see them so he took them out bolth

were freeked out and struck at him over and over then he didn't want to but

let me hold them i put one back that bit the hell out of me then i took off

running with the other one that was vary unhealthy there was no way i was

going to pay $170.00 for a mite infested, mean, stressed, and

unhealthy baby boa when i could go to tropical kingdom and pay $115.00 for

a mite free, healthy, clean, and happy snake that looks exactly the same.

When i got home with the baby boa and my mom asked me where i got it and

i couldn't lie to her about it because i don't lie i felt guilty for doin it but

happy that i saved an animal but i told he that the petstore i stole it from

was treating them like crap and i felt bad for the snakes she didn't believe me

and took me to the petstore with the snake to take it back but on the way i

convinced her to park around the corner and go in there and look at the shop

for herself and see the horrific conditions that there were being kept in and

she came back out to the car and told me to keep the snake and she called

somebody and told them about tha store and they called the people who deal

with stuff like that a cop came to my house and asked me questions about

the shop and i told him about it and i even told him that i stole the boa from

there and he seamed happy with me for doing it for some reason. i thought i

was going to get arrested but he did his paper work and let me go free with

the snake i wasn't going to tell any one that i stole the snake but now that i

did't get into any trouble for it i feel ok with letting people know

it pisses me off when petstores do things like this to animals

You still may get in trouble. If the pet shop finds out about it they can still press charges. Especially now that it's proof you stole it as the officer knows. Be careful. The best thing to do is to just tell someone like your mom did. You shouldn't commit a crime regardless.

so u stole it, and got away with it, and then gave the guy money?

whatever happened to
there was no way i was

going to pay $170.00 for a mite infested, mean, stressed, and

unhealthy baby boa when i could go to tropical kingdom and pay $115.00 for

a mite free, healthy, clean, and happy snake that looks exactly the same.

So you just HELP the guy stay in business. Great job you did there.

I agree with Aaron, every time you 'rescue' a critter from a bad store, they're just going to replace it with another one that will need to be 'rescued'

I don't know where to begin. You walk into a store. Steal a snake. THEN report them to the police and such??
If the animals were in such poor conditions, why not report them BEFORE??
If the other snakes were in a reptile rescue, why didn't you give the snake you stole to the rescue as well, or at least ask if you could adopt it out of the rescue?
Did you try to talk to the shopkeeper about the conditions the animals were living in and pointed out the mites to him? (Playing devil's advocate here) There is a chance this guy might not be aware of the mites, or know enough about reptiles to provide the correct care. (Again, I realize we're talking about a pet store here, so was just playing devil's advocate.... please don't hate me too much! ;) )
Lastly, WHY, after your comments about not wanting to pay for it because it was infested and not doing well, why would you then go back and pay money for it??
While I think it's great that you were concerned about the welfare of these animals, I do NOT agree with you openly and willfully stealing an animal. You had other options available, yet you made a concious decision to commit a theft.
Next time, call a reptile rescue and let THEM handle the situation.

Best thing would have just been to call the SPCA in the first place and in most reptile abuse cases they will just make you take an aptitude test to make sure you know what you're doing and give you the reptile for free, I have lots of rescues in my house.

I NEVER trust petstores with anything but cats and dogs... its very typical of a petstore to not care about anything other than profit... so i avoid going into the reptile section when i go to buy cat food and litter because if i didnt i would probably be calling the SPCA all the time... "Good morning Melissa you found another petstore we need to investigate?" lol So i never buy a snake or any reptile from a petstore... The only time i buy reptiles is when i buy them from breeders or a reptile show...
