Im afraid of anything that can potentially bite me...not because im scared of being bit...but i have one of those bite back personalities..and im not sure exactly what that would end up leading to? :O

Anything that could kill me.
Lisa phrased my feelings exactly! Although I have a very healthy respect for Nile monitors.
Although I do try hard to conquer my arachnophobia it's embedded really deeply. And I'm a Scorpio, for heaven's sake!
i think "healthy respect" is a much better fit than "afraid"
....and i have ALOT of respect for retics

No herp phopia at all... however kittens freak me out with those claws and sharp pointy teeth yuck!
full grown nile monitor
very scary when they are pissed off
HyGhBr|d, after working with you i know you dont like red tegus, or tokays.
I agree with the fear aspect. its more respect. Linds, i guarentee you your opinion would change if i threw a black mamba at you, or you had a large monitor running at you.

No fear here, scorps, tarantulas, giants, or hots I like them all. BUT you'll never catch my hand in some of my enclosures lol.

I would say the only herp I would be "afraid" of is any dangerous species in the wrong person's hands. More afraid of the "herper" than the herp.

I've delt with angry monitors, and large hungry snakes that believed I was the meal. I do not work with venomous snakes, and I intend on keeping it that way as I have no interest in working with them. And no, my opinion has not been changed, nor would it, I have a healthy respect for anything that can potentially kill me, not a fear. I have a phobia of spiders which I am trying so desperately to shed, and I can tell you that the two are very different feelings ;)
The comparison you made is completley irrlevant. If a person came running at me with a gun I might be afraid, doesn't mean I'm afraid of people ;)
Leopard geckos make me want to climb up the nearest tree.. lol
I don't think I am afraid of any herp, although I do have a healthy dose of respect for them, especially venomous species and very large constrictors/monitors.

LOL Edwin!! Hehe... Leos are the cutest, sweetest things ever :) Well, except for a few that I've heard of ;)
Personally -- I'm definitely over my snake phobia (LOL -- guess it wasn't too firmly entrenched ;)) -- but spiders freak me out -- even the little ones, but especially the big ones -- I just don't understand the appeal of having a big hairy ugly insect for a pet. But hey, to each his own... If it's in a cage, I'll go into the same room with it... but that's as close as I'll get :)
I'm not too fond of mice either, but i don't scream when they touch me.

with my (slight) phobia (carpet pythons) im ok in the room with them...or when theirs glass between us.... but when it comes to picking one up i will probably cack myself! :)
and leopard geckos edwin?! their the sweeeetest lil things!
i like tarantulas.(not as a pet tho ;) ) just house spiders and those funky spiders with blue shell thingies......eeeewww scary
So Linds, you'd be afraid of someone running at you with a gun, but you wouldnt be afraid of people. Thats irrelevant as you like to say, because you would be afraid of people with guns wouldnt you? Just because you're not afraid of people as a whole you are afraid of a gun wielder. And don't be childish and say "iam not afraid of Police" because that IS different.
yadda yadda yadda
cranky, snippy feeding snakes scare me! Like most snakes get agressive when they feed, and sometimes that can get a lil freaky, especially when they are a few feet bigger than you! :p

im not really afraid of any herps. not at this pount haha as i have not had the experience to be afraid of many. ido have a low tolerance for people, for the humanrace really.
I have to say that I am afraid of hamsters...for some reason I am not afraid of being bitten by any herp (that I own) but I can not deal with live hamsters...must be there teeth

I used to be arachniphobic but i've seen so many pics on here and in magazines.....I managed to get over the fear, now I have to convince the other half that it'd be ok to have a tarantula and scorpion in the house. :) Good topic

i am afraid of nothing but i respect everything for they all comand respect for being such importante and incredible creatures!if there were no reptiles on this earth we would all be do that "PICK YOUR NOSE TEST" lol
jay
I have a very healthy respect for anything that is bigger then me and I couldn't control on my own. Now a python with an attitude, that could turn into a issue of fear I believe:o
V. aw.....being afraid of people coming at you with guns is MUCH different, they are coming at you and intending to do harm.
And i think you would agree that a black mamba is not looking to harm people, so you cant compare the two
what Linds was saying was that she would be afraid of people coming at her with guns...as would I....but she respects (rather than fears) some reptiles, because they can potentially harm, but wouldnt seek you out to harm you! Fear and respect are MUCH different.
Ive worked with venomous snakes and can sat honestly that i have no fear for them, but some make me aprehensive and weary and of course demand respect

FRIGHT and PHOBIA and two completely different things. I don't know how anyone could confuse them.
I have a phobia of gravid snakes dying or giving slugs. :D

Tokay gecko. I don't mnd been bites usually but those freacks me out :bugged:
I was afraid of tokays when I was young, as I was bitten by them several times when playing outdoors (it was not my fault, as I was just trying to catch them and put them in my mouth).
V.aw,
I have a fear of situations, not animals. The only thing I have for animals is a healthy respect, because if I don't I could get into a very dangerous situation - that I would be afraid of! So maybe my first example was a poor one, here's a better one: I would be afraid if I had a large dog trying to attack me, but that doesn't make me afraid of dogs.
