Hi everyone just wanted to say that its great that theres a place to get some answers finally. Don't have any snakes yet but am getting ready to fix that little problem. The damn pet stores don't know crap when it comes to snakes so I'm glad I found you guys.

Thanks guys! Yea, seems they only care about making a quick buck huh? Go figure. They told me the same thing abou the heat rock. Im a newbie so Im guessing thats not the way to go? What should be the best route for me to take when it comes to heating?

that depends what kinda snake you plan on buying for example for a ball python like what i have the best way to heat them is with an undertank heater since belly heat is very important for them. you can also use a lamp on top of the cage as well but it dont matter.

Hey, welcome to the site! I breed Ball Pythons, so feel free to ask if you have any questions! There are some good ball python breeders in florida too when you're ready to buy one. Check out Graziani Reptiles | ball pythons | grazianireptiles.com (http://www.grazianireptiles.com) for some cool snakes!

First of all welcome to the forums!!! :)

Secondly ....................... NO BURMESE for a first time snake. A Ball Python or a Corn snake makes an excellent first timer. Very hardy little snakes and they stay small. Please reasearch (in any way possible) each species as much as possible way before you buy.

Again, Welcome, and good luck! :D

You should never, ever, trust a month old pet sales person.

Yea you want an idea how big burmese gets look at juggalo's profile check out "Daisy" lol.

And under tank heater should be just fine just put it on a dimmer.

Do you mean a dimmer for a light or lamp or is there a special kind I need? What does the dimmer do? Does it lower the heat coming off the pad like it dims a light?
