It should be around 3 ft maybe but not too thick. If it is 4-4.5 ft reguardless of sex in the first year it has been powerfed, Mark
how often does one feed when powerfeeding?

I fed my female 2 meals slightly larger than the mid-part of the stomach every 10-14 days and in the first yr , and she got roughly 4 ft. If u call that powerfeeding? lol , Shes now 2 yrs old and is over 7 ft.

Powerfeeding isn't nessicarily the frequency of feeding as most folks feed young snakes weekly, but its more the amount & size of the prey. A general rule of thumb is to feed 1 or 2 prey items as thick or upto 1.5 times as thick as the thickest girth of the snake. Someone who was power feeding might go with 2 or 3 larger items weekly or even every 4-5 days. If you are feeding prey 1.5 times the girth it should be 1 item weekly for example, not 2 items every 4 or 5 days. Its important to feed well during the younger years but not get carried away. Like any animal a snake will eat more than is good for it if it is continually offered. Snakes such as kings etc. will actually eat until they puke if allowed, like a dog would. Mark
My pair are about a year old...
Male started eating right away... Female took some time but eats like crazy now...
Male was bigger and now is about 2.5 feet @ 1 year...
Female is about 3 feet @ 1 year...
The male gets 2 adult mice every week and the female gets 1 -2 small rats every week...
There both at a good weight but I ve been trying some tricks with the male and have started too slow him down on the feedings....
yea, i have a male and hes now approaching the one year mark. He is three feet as well
