I usually do spot cleaning everyday....full tear downs every couple of weeks depending on the species.

been using a mix of Novelsan (sp.) and Healthy Habitats Anti-Bacterial Cage Cleaner.

Guru is that anything wrong with a little bleach and hot water mix on the cage?

Nope not a thing man! As long as it is aired out throughly it works great, I just can't use it in my cages, because well, bleach and clearcoat finishes and what not are not good bedfellows. LOL But on certain plastics and glass cages it is very effective and economical.

your could also try vinagear and water, the PJ's Pet Centre i worked at used it exclusively in their herp cages.

Vinegar not such a good idea, doesn't evaporate off clean, and leaves a film that when it gets wet reactivates.....just goes to show ya....petshops don't always know best. LOL

i never really understood why they used it. Sure its not toxic to the herps, but i dont think its sanitizing or disenfecting powers are that great. They i didnt see it leaving film on the cage windows.....:S

well I know this is late in catching up, but definately spot cleaning daily makes the job easier. once a week I take everything out and wash in my utility tub. I use the green carpets in the bottom and actually run them through my washer with bleach. I use antibacterial wipes on the aquariums and rinse by spraying and wiping several time. Every few weeks I haul the aquariums outside to rinse with bleach water. Sounds like alot of work, well IT IS! but I have healthy cresteds that have been with me several years now.

After you clean with a vinegar/water solutions. Rinse away with warm water.
