Thank you! Pretty aren't they? Too bad they are so under appreciated around here. At anyrate I enjoy them and that's what matters. LOL

Oh I've always kind of wanted one but I don't think I will get into hots. I'll keep to just looking. I think I'd just want to touch them waaay too much lol.

RFLOL, yeah it took quite some time before I even thought about getting into them, touching is definitely an out of the question type of thing. LOL

They are very interesting though, and much more relaxed than what I thought they would be, it's one of those "If you don't bother me, I won't bother you type of things."

Cooperheads in particular interest me, and I know they are "docile" for lack of a better term. There's just a few I'd like to keep, including the under-appreciated copperheads.

Haha notice how we make up a good portion of the forums conversations? :P

I too have always like copperheads, though I tend to actually like a lot of our native venomous herps, but when it comes to coppers it's hard to beat the color and pattern in a snake such as that. And it is definitely a plus that they are more laid back than say rattle snakes who get defensive just from a walk by the cage.

Well yeah, we gotta keep this here forum up and runnning! LOL

Agreed. Copperheads have an amazing optical illusion thing going on. It's nature's work at it's best - beautiful in a very, watch out! kind of way :)

We don't really got hots up here. As far as I know, we're the only country in the world that if you see a snake and it doesn't rattle, it's not going to kill you lol. We've only got the Massasauga Rattlesnake and the Prairie Rattlesnake. From Ontario and Alberta respectively.

I do like Western rattlesnakes and Easterns. I'd want those too!

State law prohibits me from obtaining Massasaugas or Timbers....everything else is fair game! LOL

it'll be awhile though, still getting used to these guys.

I agree that copperheads are probably the most beautiful of the hots available in north america. I plan on going on an little fielding trip in the next month or so around Virginia and am going ot try and locate and photograph, possibly collect a specimen. Only thing you are not allowed to field collect in Virginia is canebrakes (which are incredible rattlers). I will let you all know how it turns out. Todd

my coppers are more aggressive then most of my other hots they dont ride a hook well either but they are amazing looking snakes

Ohhhh mine hate the hook! LOL Something I hope to get them used to eventually, they are definitely young enough to learn.

But aggressive wise mine are pretty laid back, they really don't get very defensive until you start messing with them, and even then they usually try to run away.

You should post some pics, love to see them!
