i just got a female amel corn and i have a male so could i keep them together in a 55 gallon tank? or should i keep them separate till i breed them this spring

first off it would be better to keep em seperate especially if you want to breed next year. and if one of them is smaller than the other there is a chance one might attack the other. its a bit less common than in milksnakes who are cannibalistic but it can happen. I would keep them seperate(all of my cornsnakes are kept in sepperate cages)

ok thx and my 2 big amels the pair 1 is like 1 inch shorter but its weird the male is longer and there around the same age
but what ever its only a inch they'll be fine to breed right?

if its a male and a female its normal for them to be a bit different in sizes. i would also read up ALOT on breeding before doing so. buy the cornsnake manual by kathy and bill love its thurough. Alot of things can go wrong when your breeding so its better to be prepared
