Hey, I bought some ceramic tile to put between the uth and viv for my snake when I get it. Now one thing I was wondering, how do you stick the ceramic tile to the bottum or the viv? I want to be able to remove it if I have to, and I'm currious, will it stay in position? Or will I have to stick it some how. I know I shouldn't use duct tape. Please, I really need info on this. Thanx :hammer: :hammer: ;)

I once built a wooden cage for my boa cause I didn't want to spend a ******** price on a temporary cage. so I routered out the corner on the bottom and put in a 12" x 12" x 1/4 inch piece of glass. This was so I could use a U.T.H. as i wasn't using any substrate other than that green indoor /outdoor carpet.
I temped it and it was way to warm even turned way down. So I decided to put tile over it as I thought it would spread out the heat a little better. well ends up what I did was to silicone the glass and tile together with a real good aquarium silicone. It still to this day has never come off on it's own although once in a while I trim the edges and redo it for appearance sake (and so waste matter does not get under there).
The only real problem I had was I gave it a long time before I would let my snake in it. I wanted to make sure the heating the new silicone didn't give off any harmful fumes.
#1 - If you wanted to just do a thin bead of silicon around the edges of your tile with a latex silicon so you actually could cut it out later on.
#2 - Another thing though that you might want to try is to get a thin piece of the no skid rubber that us guys like to use in our toolbox drawers, use two sided carpet tape to stick the rubber to the bottom of your tile. use a real super thin bead of silicone just around the edges just to ensure your animal does not come in contact with the tape, and that should ensure the tile profile will be flat and low enough that it would take a pretty small snake to lift it. (well that and the fact that you don't want very much airspace at all between your glass and tile either, you want to heat the tile not the space in between).
Well sorry for rambling but maybe this might of given you some ideas.
