he is 5-7weeks old and ive hade him for 3 weeks and he has only eaten once, the gentelmen i bought him from told me he ate 2 days after he got him. the day i got him he looked like he was in shed which he was, he shed very nicely, now it has been 2 1/2 weeks since he shed and he still shows no interest in food.
1st attempt(while in shed)after a week: tried toi dangle a frozen mouse no interest. left him alone in a dark container with it for an hour.....nothing
2nd attempt(after another week): tried to dangle a frozen rat pup ...nothing, left him alone in the container again for an hour.... nothing
3rd attempt last night(after 5-6 days): dangle..nothing, alone... nothing...overnight near his hide box ....nothing
does anybody think i should try live prey..........
i hate live prey..my retic only eats live and i get so nervous when i feed him i hate that(im always afraid the prey will bite my snake) it happend to my baby burmese when i first got him.
any help would be appreciated

Offer prey while your conda is in its water.
Anaconda's are ambush predators, mostly in the water.
Hope this helps....
How's the retic coming along?

Hi, I myself would try live mice. But I have an idea you may want to try. Take you frozen/thawed mouse and place it in a plastic bag.. like a sandwich bag. Then place it in your hand, holding the mouse in the bag fairly tight, generating heat from your hand and transfering it to the f/t mouse. After about 8-10 minutes it should be at a nice warm body temp and then remove the mouse from the bag and place it on the tip of a teaspoon with the head pointing outward. Now bring it to the baby anaconda and teeder the spoon side to side. This with look as if it is alive and it should move toward it and "feel" the heat radiating from the mouse. This odd but effective feeding worked for me serveral times with young burms. Let me now if it works for you. MSN Messenger: athlonxp65@hotmail.com G/L ;-)

i just went to check him out and i noticed that there were small foamy stuff, at the tip of his mouth not alot but just alittle, so i took him out and heard like a popping sound,
this seems like RI am i wrong.

Man, Only a few days late on this one, but hey, why not.:) Anyways, yes, that's not normal for an Anaconda to have bubbles and a puffy throat, it sounds like an RI, or maybe a cold even... What are you temps? Also, I have gotten everyone of the Anacondas I have owned to eat. From imported to c/b, right now I have an 8' Male Green and a 3' Anerythristic Green Anaconda. And about to get in a couple more... Also, as far as the Anacondas behavior, raise the temps and humidity and see how that helps, maybe a humidity hut will do good (rubbermaid container with sphagnum moss) As far as getting it to eat, when the anaconda is soaking, leave the dead/f-t rat dangling 1/2 over the bowl and leave it alone overnight with the cage being pitch black. Don't attempt to feed it by dangling it, just set it there and leave. Whenever you dangle it like that, it stresses the snake out some if it doesn't take it and then it wont eat for the rest of the night. If that doesn't work, feel free to email me at: blue_note37@hotmail.com. I have a lot more ways of getting it to eat.

A lot of people say lower the humidity, but in my experience they have gone away by getting a humidity hut, or raising the humidity.

My experiences with picky feeders are ususally always resolved by cranking up the heat to 85 or 90. I also try to have a second small food item ready to put in the snakes mouth when the first rodent is 90% down. Good luck

so misting morning and night should be sufficient

Maybe, it all depends on what kind of cage you have and bedding and set up. What temps, type of cage, size of cage, things have in the cage, bedding? That will help out some.:)

Alright, well, you might want to make the hides Humidity Huts, just put sphagnum moss in the huts and spray it down every 1-2 days and you should be fine.:)
