Hello I who’d like to know what you guys think of the mighty nil monitor.
I think they are awesome monitors, now that I have experienced many species they are becoming one of my favourite.
Do they really deserve there bad reputation?
Regards

awwwwww to cute :) but you have to remember with most sub adult / adult species popping up are wild caught and i dont think i would want to label a W/C adult mile tame :P heh heh heh

You are right most adult WC are challenging, and I do not support their imports.
What concerns me is the undeserved bad rep of these monitors, its sad that peoples buy them on impulse, but its even sadder they are being told that there monitor will never be tractable, I said tractable not trust worthy, not even my dumerils can be labelled trust worthy. I feel this is the reason peoples give up on them, one individual has tried his luck with 4 different nils before he came to me. I told him to hold on to this magnificent creature, now 2 years later he can manage him with care. Also he will breed him this female next year. Regards
Ps this forum is grate

Yep, V. ornatus are amongst my true favourites - though I doubt that many wild-caughts still originate from the battle-weary country of Burundi! Few animals are as impressive as a massive, 'tame' Nile...

C'mon Steve, I've never been bitten by a Dumeril's Monitor! For the most part, they're just full of hot air (kinda like me)! Mind you, I've only owned 4 over the years and only handled another half dozen or so. Does a mere 20 years of experience with Varanoculture make you some kind of expert?! LOLOLOL

Cheers, mon ami....
