Thought I'd share some photos of a couple of mine. The first is a male that if you look closely you'll see that he is changing, he is the smallest I have at 3 and a half to 4 feet. The second is a female that is close to 5 feet long , she was green when I got her. I have a pair of the yellow adults as well as 4 of the green which are very nice looking Chondros as well. Randy

I've had most of them for a while now and I have to say(knock on wood) that so far other than the last one I received they have been pretty much problem free. In one of the photos I'm trying to post, the one eating the mouse back asswards(he eats that way all the time) if you look close you can see a little scale rot, photo was taken soon after he got here, it cleared up quickly. They are rather tame the most they've ever done so far is hiss. The yellow one is bigger than it appears in the photo it's sitting on 1 1/2 inch pipe. they all ate within days of getting them and are like pigs always looking for food. Most of my experience has been with Emeralds and compared to them and most my other Chondros these guys are puppies. I have 2.3 green and 1.1 yellow and trying to find some more of the green ones.
The green ones are rather light colored and I've had a couple that were still some what yellow when I got them. They don't change like other chondros, you see them darken and the green just fades in, not scale by scale or in groups of scales like other GTPs. The yellows tend to have very dark green spots that so far haven't gotten larger nor have they increased in number the green is darker than in the solid green ones.
Don't have a lot of photos of my animals on line but Will post what I have. Randy

Thank you for all the detail. It's good to hear about the particulars of color change and habits for these animals. The backwards eating deal is interesting. I wonder what direction a snake might eat a bat in the wild?
About ten years ago I had a young male import which very much resembled one of the light green Canary types. He was very light green and seemed to change back and forth in color, greenish-yellow to more green to greenish-yellow. It was weird. At night he seemed more greenish-yellow. I bred him to a mixed genetic captive bred female and grew a few of 19 offspring. One remained yellow to nearly two years of age with just a couple green scales and lavender markings. Then the lavender started turning blue along with a wash of green over the whole snake.

Randy,
I also live in Texas. I'm working with a group of 4.4 Kafiau's. 4 are solid yellows, 3 have the dusty green look, and one is holding its yellow, but may switch. I'm not sure if mine are quite as large as yours (though I do have a range of sizes).
I am planning on some long-term projects with this locale. Perhaps we should compare notes some time...
will you be at the dallas show?
