View Full Version : What would you suggest?
I'm looking into buying a second snake and i'm wonder what you guys would suggest. I wan't it to be a fat snake (boa/python), and for it to grow no more than 10 feet. Please include explanations why you suggest what ever snake you end up suggesting.

Columbian Boa Constrictors would make a okay choice esspecially if it is only your second snake . They stay in the 5 to 10 foot range and are fairly heavy bodied . They also are very docile and easy to handle. What kind of snake do you have now .
Right know i have a Cali Kningsnake, but am famillar will columbian redtails and ball pythons because my friend has them. Thanks for the info, and the more the merrier.

I agree with the Colombian boa constrictor.
- 5 to 7 feet max for a male, 8 feet max for female (generally)
- Can be had for reasonably cheap
- generally docile
- undemanding husbandry - although they like humidity, mine do fine without it.
- extremely impressive strength for their size
- eat like pigs
need I go on?

I would have to disagree with the blood python suggestion.
Yes they are heavy bodied snake that stays under 10 feet, but they aren't really for beginners. A pissed off blood can be a "two manner". Two experienced men at that. There are docile ones, but generally they are very aggressive by nature, and will literally do backflips striking at you. Just my opinion though. I personally would go with the columbian boa as well.
