My coastal carpet python seems to have something on his head. It looks like dry skin and has been getting larger.. Could this be scale rot? or an infection? I've been reading up on this, but I'm not sure how to tell. If I post a picture of it would anyone be able to idenfity it?
Also what measures do I need to take to fix this?

This is something I'm curious about as well. My Coastal has a funny spot on her as well. Didn't go away with a shed. Not sure what it is, will take pics later today.

my blackhead python had this and it then spread to the rest of his body in spots, it looked like dry patches and felt like tissue paper but was not shed. we took him to the veterinerian who said it was an infection which probably started when he rubbed his nose on something and got a small cut which left an opening for bacteria to get under his skin/scales. She called the bacteria pseudomonas and prescribed an antibiotic called Amikacin which we injected every three days for seven injections, and he was back to his beutiful self after even a few days!

Why don't you go ahead and post the picture. From the description it could be anything from a retained shed to scale rot...

As Heather suggested, photos are needed to help you with the problem, as from your description it could be one of many things.
