I went to get my corn its first meal (with me, its almost a year old) im almost positive it was only fed live mice before, i got the little mouse today, which just opened it eyes yesterday, and before i put it in the cage i heard it was a good idea to stun the mouse to avoid injury to my snake, however i stunned him too good and killed him! needless to say i still put the mouse in and my little corn looked at it for about 15mins, then finnally started swallowing it, hes got it about 3 quarters gone now!!! so i geuss this will make my life easier, however is it still a good idea to drop in a live mouse every once and a while to make food interesting to him??
thanks
No. Snakes do not need live mice as a stimulant or anything else.
He can and should eat killed mice at every feeding from here on out. :D
And at a year old, he should be taking far larger mice than ones that just opened their eyes. :D

Yea I dont have much experience with snakes either.
But I have heard of a method of dunking the live mouse in water just to get it wet, before dropping it in the tank. Apperantly the mouse will be too busy trying to clean itself then to pay attention to the snake.
I have only heard of this method, has anyone used this method, or know if it would actually work?

i think it was a fitting size mouse that he ate, he has quite the bulge in his stomache after he ate it, the mouse was probably bigger than i made it out to be, the mouse could fully run, not just stumble around like pinkys, and it had a good amount of hair. my snake is pictured if you wanted to see the size of her, on the post titles pics of my new corn.

no, if the snake is readily eating f/t then the only reason to feed live is because YOU want to, not because the snake wants to.
