I am in the process of building a IJCP cage. However I am stumped on the heating of it. I guess back heat would be best but I am not completly sure. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

An overhead radiant heat panel would be the best choice. Install it on the cage ceiling towards one end of the enclosure and set it up on a Helix thermostat to the proper temperature setting, and you're done, with nothing to worry about. I use them for arborial cages, as well as terrestrial cages and they work great for both. Significantly more expensive up front than the traditional overhead light, but works out much better over the long run, and they are much safer, as they can't be accidentally knocked over, and do not get hot enough to burn anything, including the animal. Both Pro-Products and Helix make these panels, with Helix also making a very reliable thermostat to go with it. Do a quick search on both these companies and you'll get all the information you need. All you have to do is give them your enclosure dimensions and they will provide you with the right size panel to properly heat it.
