Hi I was wondering if it is alright to feed your snakes while cooling. I'm not 100% sure because of of the lower temps, I thought that they might have trouble digesting the food and would be bad for them. Even though I heard and read that you stop feeding while cooling, just thought I would make sure.
Thanks for any help or advice in advance.
Yes. As long as they'll eat, keep feedin' them.

Binge feeding is often a common precursor to follicle developement and ovulation.
Both female Regius and Curtus, in fact most snakes frequently have a surge in appetite in the breeding season. It's important to give them adequate feedings at this time.
Cooling should involve dips in evening temps, but daytime temps should still reach at least 80F to allow for proper digestion.
That was a way better answer.

And remember you're cycling not cooling. You are cycling between lower than normal night time temps and normal day time temps. Cooling implies brumation..
Probably didn't need to be said but why take a chance.

And I hope you're cycling and not outright cooling. If you're outright cooling, then feeding is not an option, as they won't be able to digest. 99.99% of the world's breeders cycle their tropical boids for breeding if they do anything at all.

Ok, thanks and yes i'm cycling not cooling my bad. I have one last question when cycling do you feed regular size meals or smaller than normal because of the night drop.
Thanks again in advance for your replys or comments.

From all the material i have read including the ball python manuel, It says to stop all feeding the last week of november and resume feeding in Feb. Have never once heard or done, feeding throughout the cycling period.

Also keep in mind that the Ball Python manual was written in 1991. That's 13 years ago.
I feed year round. Some will eat, some won't. Its their choice. And I go smaller than normal. You get a regurge in the summer, no biggie. There's tons of time to get the snake back to prime condition. Get a regurge now, and its game over until the following year. Why chance it with a food item that's too big?

In the Breeding Ball Python video Collette Sutherland says if they want to eat, feed them. They will stop eating when they are ready to stop.

Thanks for all the info! We've got the video and I was pretty sure we should keep feeding but checking was in order. Thanks again.
