Does a san luis potosi kingsnake count? This guy is about 2 years old, bred by Wrapped up in Reptiles - very pretty snake, better than the fuzzy photo shows.

Close, I guess.... I love mex-mex too. One of my all time favorites. Never a problem to keep or breed. Now thayeri, well, they can be a little more trouble sometimes. I'm not sure why more people aren't interested in the mex-mex. Some are just awesome. Have you bred them?

No - this guy is our first Mex mex. We also have a baby thayeri from the same breeder, need to borrow the camera again to get a decent photo of her. She was peachy colored when we got her this summer, but has greyed out a bit. Still really pretty though and a great feeder. I agree the mex-mex are underappreciated - I wanted a grey banded kingsnake until I saw these and now I like the san luis just as well (maybe better because of how readily they feed).

He looks really nice, Mary. I'm gulty of "not appreciating" these snakes as you mentioned. But now that I see your Mex mex, I will definetly keep a closer eye on them. I was just never a big fan of the grey-orange mix.

Very pretty!! Was he always this light in the grey or do they change much with age - very silver appearance? He has the same neck marking as mine - the grey streak in the red band is the shape of a dog bone!

They are quite variable also. A friend has some that have nearly white ground color as babies. Most tend to lighten up in the first year or so ,then gradually darken with age. I have many different looks.
