Rhacodactylus trachyrhynchus trachycephalus (a.k.a. New Caladonian Rough-snouted Gecko)

Seen an add for these on the "other" website. They are sellling babies for 10000 US dollars!? I've never even heard about these guys till last night. I don't know if you guys have either, but I'm sure whoever has the Rhac book has. Anyways, just thought I'd share as cause many people have a one track crested mind.

I've dreamed of having a pair of them..... dream... key word. They're probably the top of my wish list, and will probably always be there. I've seen a few for sale on breeders sites over the years. Seems one pair is worth what I paid for my house a few (okay, many) years back. Scary, isn't it? :)

I first saw them in the Rhac book, didn't realize the price of them!
I thought the Giant Geckos were pricey!

Awesome geckos, the only livebearing Rhac. I hope that price comes down fast! :D

sigh... I got the e-mail when they were first made available... 10G's is way up there, but I heard that they have exchanged hands privately for ~$4000 USD before. They sound like fascinating geckos to work with. Definitely near the top of my wish list, although I don't think anything could knock Naultinus out of #1.

It's probably going to be a loooong time before the prices come down. Being livebearing, they don't produce nearly as fast as other Rhacs..... translates to little supply, big demand, high price. They're also a bit finickier than other Rhacs, so that makes them just a tad harder to keep, another reason for prices to stay high a bit longer.

What do they look like as adults? I'm happy cresteds a cheaper they have more distinctive features :)

Anyone else noticed that guy still has the same amount and they're not 5K instead of 10. Still too much but thats quite a drop, bet it makes people glad they didnt pay 10
