My female just went through a shed and when I cleaned her enclosure after that I found two small white chalkie thingies.....
They were the size of jelly beans----

~very~ strange.

any idea? could they have been eggs?

Nope not eggs. It is perfectly normal however. They are fecal matter. Usually every bowel movement will include a white chalky piece.

They're called urates. :)

There doesn't have to be stool with them either. Your snake had a pee is all it was.

Urates are the salt form of uric acid. Where humans keep uric acid dilute snakes are able to concentrate it as a solid salt and conserve water. I'm pretty sure thats the general idea anyway

Yeah lick it, you see. Salty!! NOT a bowel movement, a "bladder movement".

I have read that if the urate has a yellow, brown, or green tinge, then the snake is sick...But I have also read that the color changes slightly depending on what is fed to the snake....
I have also read that parasites make the urates change to a darker color...There are also sources that say as long as urates are being expelled, your snake is healthy!
4 sources told me 4 different things.
It's a good question.......does any one know any betteR???

I've seen ALL colours of urates form all of my snakes. They all eat rats exclusively that I breed so no change in their diet. So unless every last one of my balls is sick, I'm going to have to bust that myth and say that that theory is bunk.
