Molly's first hatchling! and q....

Well Molly laid her third clutch this morning so I dig thm out and was putting them in the incubator when lo and behold!! a baby gecko in the other container! lol, its her first baby to hatch out and its the second clutch. First clutch she ever had was a dud and it looks like the second egg in the second clutch will hatch any moment! I am thrilled, Molly is a super hypo and dad is a hypo tangerine stripe, and the baby is a tangerine circle back :D Of course I am hoping for hypo for her, and since her baby bands are brown, not black, is that a good sign for hypoism?

Also mom seems to " gaurd" her eggs after laying them, is this normal? She has done it each time, hovering over the buried eggs and not wanting to move.

I will post pics of the lil one asap to show her off ;) I love tiny babies but will be relieved after she first eats.

It might be that mom isn't guarding her eggs. I find my girls are just plain too tried to move after laying there eggs. usually after a few hours they're up and looking for food. When I remove thier eggs too they usually go straight back to the nest box, and then peek out at me, like, "Hey whered they go?" :)

I have seen that behaviour too. They give you the "you stole my babies " look. Fortunately they have the attention span of well.... lizards so they forget about it soon enough.

Hope to see pics of the babies , I got a few babies recently and realised how much I missed seeing mine so tiny. It has been years since I did any gecko breeding. They are so cute when they are tiny, almost wish they stayed like that :)

Yes, I have to do a photo shoot today... since the second baby hatched!! Abberant tang, both incubated at 83degrees.... can't wait to see how they develop!

lol, ya, Molly was definatly interested in food today, poor girl, I feel sorta guilty for putting her through this :|
