Was she always tame, or did she tame down as an adult?

That is a pretty sick Mack. I have 1.1. The female is mean as they come. She is about 5.5 ft and sees EVERYTHING human as food. Marius, the male, is about 6.5-7.0 ft and tame as they come. I have actually fed my other snakes with him around my neck and never a threat. It is interesting how you can have 2 snakes of the same species raised on the same food under exactly the same conditions, yet they are polar opposites when it comes to aggression.

I have what were sexed as 1.1, that have been puppy tame since they were out of the egg. I have to say that I'm VERY skeptical about this snake being 9+ feet though. That's so rare it's almost unheard of.

What size would you consider breedable for a female mack? Mine is in the 5-6 foot range and has some girth. I'll be waiting another year for sure as she is an '03 and I'd like her to be a little older; but the size is getting close right?

For a Mack, I'd wait until 3 years of age regardless of size or girth.

Chris - Sure, they have a range up to 9.5 feet.... just like blood pythons have a range up to 9 feet, and boa constrictors have a range up to 12 feet. My point is, I hear these claims all the time - in fact, recently there was an ad posted for a "10 foot male boa" and in the picture, the boa was CELARLY smaller than the person holding it! So when I hear claims of 9 foot Macks, I'm skeptical. I'm not saying it's impossible... I'm just saying I doubt it.

We have a pair that we have raised since birth. We got them in 97 and they produced in 00, 02, 03. They are getting a rest this season. The female is 7 feet 4 inches and the male is 6 feet. As far as temperment, they are both big babies (with the fastest feeding response I have seen). I remember the good old days when they were real bitters, but with occasional, gentle handling, they tamed right up!

Linds..i would agree with you on that too...sounds a little to risky for me....just wouldnt be something i would even attempt..no matter how much i thought i trusted a snake.
But to each there own I guess....just make sure your leave them to someone in your will :P jk
