Heating Suggestion?????

I got my terrarium to 90 to 95 degrees in the morning but my problem is heating at night.... i use a 60 watt regular light bulb in the morning so im pretty much sure that i cant use that at night because of the light. is there anything that i can use to heat up my terrarium at night....

I use a red heat bulb as well as a UTH for those "chillier" nights. The red bulbs give off heat without providing light. You can get them at most pet stores.

i would suggest a under the tank heater if you do not have one already. They are much better than bulbs in the sense that they dont dry out the tank as fast and you can put a dimmer on them to regulate the heat as needed. All you should need on a normal 1 snake cage would be a good UTH and you would be set.

I agree with just using a UTH...Thats all he should need. I only use the bulb, like I said, if it happens to be a chilly night and you want a little extra heat without the light. Thats just my opinion cuz we leave our house cool at night. I agree with you though, arkuden, I wouldnt use the bulb and uth 24-7.

yeah i got a nice uth that i found at petco and other than a full spectrum florecent light in my setup the UTH is the only thing giving heat and it gives plenty. adding a dimmer has made a big change becuase now i can set the heat to an exact temp when i need to (day and night)

i have a wood cage for my bp, is it safe for me to put a "UTH" on it? is there any uth that is safe on woods????

Is the bottem wood also? I have mine stuck under the tank but my bottem is glass.

Yup its all wood except i have a clear plastic so that i can view my bp...

an uth should pose no problem on wood. Expecially when you have a dimmer on it, 100f is not gonna set wood on fire lol/

like he said. i wouldnt worry about it, unless the cord is frayed and shooting sparks at your wooden enclosure hehe. It would be a good idea to have a dimmer and digital thermometer/hydrometer if you already dont. It will help if you ever have probs with your bp. most problems can be traced back to heat and humidity issues.

i agree with all of the above, a uth or flexwatt will do fine. a thermostat to regulate the heat source is a good idea also, it will keep the temps in check and prevent anything from getting too hot. correct ventilation and a thermostat will solve/prevent alot of problems.

not sure on the costs of thermostats or even how to implement them but i know you can make a nice dimmer for around 10-25 bucks. Mine cost me $9.56USD when i was done with it and works like a dream. Ill get you the link that shows how to make it and what you need to buy:
