The biggest Retic I've personally seen was 19ft. also. That was a few years ago in St. Catharines, Ont. . It belonged to a biologist whom had just died. We went to his house with a friend of his to feed all his snakes. Great shot.

Watching Hunter eat a goat is probably one of the coolest things I've seen! :D I hope to get to Little Rays in two weeks or so, when Matt_K, chappy and Melly come to visit me...(they're just saying that so they can go to little rays though :p )

For sheer impressiveness, Bob Clarks Fluffy takes it. Last I had heard she was 310lbs. That's only 90lbs off the world record (to my knowledge anyway). That weigh in was a few years ago.
He is definately a she. Hunter is offered food every Saturday at 1 pm (in case anyone is interested in dropping by). She doesn't take food every week, but if she doesn't usually the afrocks will. Food items vary..rabbits, goats, large fowl etc...

Hunter is amazing. Since we are talking about impressive retics, here's one that will give you google eyes:

The one at reptilias name is reggie and she is about 21' and well over 200lbs.
They now have another retic a male that is around 16' and recently ate 4 7.5lbs rabbits during his last feeding.
They feed their retics every sunday at 1 pm if you wanna check it out.

Here's a link to another giant. Most of you have probably seen this, but it warrents a second look (or a third or forth).

Fluffy is a dream snake. Big and tame. The one i posted is over 25', i believe. She's kept at Australia Zoo and is gotta be one of the largest tame ones around, these days. Name's Worm.

Is that the one from the N.Y. Zoo that died recently? I think it was N.Y., could have been New Jersey. Where ever it was that is one huge snake. Great example of the species.

i have not been able to conf any of this, but as i understand it, she was or maybe still is housed at the houston zoo and is 26'
As for Hunter..
I have worked with her since she was 3 feet long ..
Backgroung:
She just hit 4 years old .. not 5
She is just shy of 19 feet .. but will be there soon ...
Last time weighed she was 240 pounds (that was about 3 month ago and she has had several feedings since then
She was a confiscated animal like 80% of our animals .. so no idea of locality or anythign like that..
She is as tame as any snake gets ..
HMMMM Largest thing she ate was a 50 pound goat but on average she eats around 30 pounds of meat a feeeding .. lets say .. 3 ten pound rabits or 6 large chickens or 3 small goats and such.
We try to feed her every saturday but she ends up eating once every 2 weeks.. She did just eat for me this weekend!
out of curiosity ..
What is the OFFICIAL weight of the retic at reptilia .. I hear different numbers all the time .. Anyone work there and actually know.. From when I saw it this summer, it would surprise me that it grew that much .. I especially like his labarynth of a cage.

The name's Marsha, a sulawesi female. She was kept at the San antonio zoo and died
some time ago. VPI has a website on her.
Weight was close to 300 pounds, they claim.

That's the one I was thinking of. There was a small write up about it in REPTILES not that long ago.

Since Marsha's dead and Samantha (from Bronx zoo) is also dead, wich known retic is the largest now? Does anybody know?
Could Worm (the pic i posted) be it?

I think the article you're talking about was about samantha. I have read it and seen the pic. Samantha was kept at the Bronx Zoo and died sometime ago, maybe 2-4years ago.

Samantha died in early 2003.
BMX_PYTHON
10-13-04, 10:25 PM
no she didn't.
She died like two years before the article was issued.
JimmyDavid

Are you sure? Because i have the article from magazines and internet (released in early 2003) and they say she had just died. Why would they wait 2 years to release such outdated news?
I could be wrong, of course. But if i am is only out of misinformation then.
