I have a male hypo that i bought in early spring. He was a left over 2001 hatchling. Right from the very begining, he would often sit with his jaw open. We could also hear him "cracking" his jaw all the time. When I got him, he was only about 12" long. In August & Sept, he seemed to not do it as often, but lately he has been sitting around with his jaw open again. He is an excellent eater and is now around 26". He has shed 6 times since I've gotten him. Could it be that he has a jaw problem or should I be worried about a respiratory problem. There is never any bubbling from his mouth. Any insight or info would be appreciated.

Because your snake does well, I would not worry at all. Does not sound like a respiratory problem. Probably a problem with its jaw or so. X-rays at your vet could show this.
But as long as it eats and sheds well, I personally would not do anything.

I would think that it's respitory problem!
Cause mouth opening and having sounds is a sign of RS....so I would bring it to an experienced herp vet and check it out. If you have other snakes I would move the one with problem away from the others just in case it's really RS and that it will pass on to other snakes!!!

Go To The Vet!!!

This snake has been kept in the same cage as another male corn for the last 7 or 8 months. The other snake appears in perfect health, eats well, and shed complete sheds just as the corn with the problem does.
