I 've been using this Thermostat for about two and a half weeks now and ~still~ find it hard to regulate my two ten gallon aquariums. I'm using the UTH-Repti-Therm by Zoo Med and have small temp gauges that go in-the-tank to read the temps for both sides. The Bah-1000 clicks on and off as it achieves the correct temperature on the warm side but it doesn't feel warm enough (to me). The gauges in the tank always seem to read lower than should be...82-85 on the warm side and there doesn't seem to be much difference on the cool side. FRUSTRATING! I think the wall gauges are just reading the ambient temps and I do have them placed closer to the floor on the inside of the tanks. I notice when I turn off the Bah-1000 the snakes will stay over on the warmer side more often. I hope this makes sense.

Any ideas?

What could I do better? :medbugged

Get a digital thermometer so you are sure you are reading the correct temps would be my first suggestion.

Also, don't read the temps on the wall. Does your snake spend much time on the wall? :p

Measure the temps where the snake will be basking/hiding.... under or in the hide box.

Where is the probe from the thermostat? It should also be in or under the hide on the warm side.

Try that, see how it goes... :)

...the probe is directly on the glass floor on the warm side. The directions stated that it shouldn't be covered with anything (substrate, etc) . So I made a small opening in the substrate, just large enough for the probe and there it sits.

I've been think of getting a digital thermometer. hmmmm.

thanks
