First time on. Hi Everyone.

I would like to ask just a couple of simple questions if no one minds.

I would like to just ask this simple question first...

Is a 30 Gallon tank good for a Ball Python? How many people use a 20 Gallon? Inquiring mind wants to know?

Thank you.

you can use the 20 long but thats pretty tight quarters... a adult should have a 33 gallon long model in my opinion... it CAN be kept in a 20 but its definatly not comfortable living.

Jeff, what are the dimensions of a 33 gallon long?

I'm using bins and want to compare.

Thanks.

Here is a site that list the sizes of most common tanks.tank sizes (http://www.alysta.com/books/fishtank.htm)

The rule of thumb that I've learned is that the sum of length and width should be equal to or great then the length of the snake.

so if your snake is going to be 5 feet as an adult you would want to have a tank that is something like 3'X2'X1.5'.
most ball pythons make somewhere between 4 and 5 feet as an adult so a 40 stout probably would be a good tank to buy (3'X1.5'X1.5')
