I am so excited and I just had to share. After weeks of research and preparation, (and pouting enough to get the husband to give in ;) I will get my ball tommorrow. It is just a normal, but it is very beautiful. Instead of brown markings it has blazing yellow markings on it, and its very curious and docile. Ive been visiting it =). This will be from a clutch of 5 CB balls, about 5 weeks old now I believe, and eating f/t mice.

Setup is 10g tank with UTH for hot spot, and hide on each side with water in the middle. I will have a screen on the top initially, but it will be clipped and covered with a glass top which will help hold the humidity. So far all my temps and humidity readings look good and within parameters, setup has been going for about 3 days. So Im hoping all will go well. They have been able to feed it already, and I know they wouldnt lie to me, I live in a VERY small rural town, and know the people at my LPS personally, so Im not worried. I wanted them to feed him in advance because tommorrow they are going to probe it for me, and I didnt want it to regurg from the sheer stress of that.

Ill post some pics up once I think it can handle having its picture taken, and I have a name for it.

Thanks so much to all of you for all your help, advice and patience. I would not be nearly as prepared to take this baby home tommorrow were it not for this wonderful forum!

how are you measuring temps?

if you have just a UTH on it then you need a lamp dimmer or something to control the heat as a UTH can get well over 110 degress.

digital thermometers are awesome for this.

Congrats! Can't wait to see pics!

have digi thermom, and i havent had to really do anything to the UTH, I ran the setup for several days with no fluctuations to speak of, maybe a couple of degrees here or there. I did buy also one of those red glass heat bulbs, but im saving that for in case the UTH breaks ;). Now, im having second thoughts about humidity, I keep reading that it should be higher, but then I also read about how balls naturally come from a drier climate. Some people say not below 60, some people say 50 range is fine. Thats where Im at now, anyone have thoughts on that?

Thanks
