Hello JCMonitor,

I saw your post on other forum, and Congratulate you and your female V.exanthematicus. I would very much like to review your breeding data, measurements of animals, dates of mating, egg depositions, etc for a paper I have been amassing data on for 10+ years on African Varanus breeding behaviors/events....is this possible? Full credit is given and copy of paper when published sent to you if you wish?

Hi Scott,

I am not sure where it will be published, but I usually look for appropriate journals on topic, and ones that give more than 2 reprints to the author....those reprints can go quick! For my African varanus distribution paper, Journal of Biogeography 2002, 29:1643-1701 I have maybe 15/50 left!

I am including both wild/captive breeding data in the paper for all African varanus from as far back as I can find data for; the first report is for Varanus griseus in Egypt when a Egyptian Pharoah reported those "Land Crocodiles" make little copies of themselves! Amazing....but it gets more complex than that to be sure. I also have summarized each breeding, whether in german, dutch, Africaans, etc....so more people can read them, and learn from them....its alot of fun, and of course I never know where the paper is going to lead me until I am done....sometimes my results totally surprise me, confuse me, and thats great as then I learn something new I didn;t know the day before!
