These guys are so much fun but they grow soooo slow. I have to look back on their baby pictures to make sure that they have grown at all... Hope you enjoy the pics!

They may not be aussie but they sure look like scrub pythons when they're young... ;)

Simon- She looks awesome!!! It is hard to imagine they will actually get that large..Any plans with big momma this year???

Thanks for the kind words.

This season she mated twice with the male, and she's gone off her food but she just does not "look gravid". It's easy to miss ovulation in these guys.
She just completed a ecdysis, so we'll see if she's hungry or not - she usually does not feed at all while gravid.
The last time she produced was in '01.

Those guys of yours are looking very nice. How long are they now?

The color on those is just amazing!! I like them.. alot.
Haitian boas grow slow as well.. I have 4 from 2000 and they have a long way to go before I will even try to breed them... Perhaps all the insular Epicrates are slow growers

Thanks everyone!

Simon - They are probably around 30" but it's hard to tell cuz they are so gangly and they never stop moving... We've got our fingers crossed for you. They are a great species and it would be nice to see more of them!

Thanks, Ryan and Katie!

I've got my fingers crossed for some young'uns. I tried offering her a small rat last night, but she turned her nose up at it, so I'm "assuming" that at this point she may be gravid...?? Only time will tell.

Have a great season!

The worst bite i had from any snake was a jamaican boa... they are bitey fella's and are even worse in the wild. heres my first 3rd jamaican boa bite. wasn't bad but looks.

and here was my worst bite ever. doesn't look like much, but that was just seconds after getting nailed. the wound bled for about an hour because i pulled away when it bit me. it tore the skin, a vein and damaged a tendon. it was brused for 2 weeks.

I'm surprised there are any left.
You know most the ones floating around Canada can all be traced back to the late Tom Huff's breeding project. He produced whacks of them, and intended to re-introduce them back to Jamaica, but their government would have no part of it... Snakes are bad for tourism

i will post more pictures when i get home... i am working on a lap top and it really sucks.

there are very few left. i only found one jamaican boa while i was there, and he was not in reach. it was in a hole in a tree around some bends... i tried to pull him out, but there was no luck...

the others were caught a couple days before on the road when it rained... i now know exactly where the last remaining populations of jamaican boas are. I have a condo in jamaica and i want to start a jamaican boa breeding centre there. land is cheap, the snakes are easy to acess, so with any luck, i can get a centre going in a year or two.

Thanks

Jordan
