I was wondering if it would be alright to just use overhead heat(backing bulb) vs an UTH. What are people's thoughts on this?

I use overhead heat, it's fine, but a uth is also fine... whatever you'd like...

both are good for leo, they dont really bask (mine) so it's up to you

do you leave your overhead heat on 24 hours a day or for how long do you leave it on for?

well generally if you have a red light you do leave it on for 24 hours if you have a white light buy a uth and switch it on at night

what do you think would be more costly to run, a red light on 24 hours or a UTH?

I find you don't really need any heat at night. As long as the temps don't go below around 70, it's ok. And the temps CAN go down to 64 without any ill effects.

My personal belief is that belly heat is very important for leo's. I always use a uth for leo's.

right now i use both, i have an UTH on 24 hours and an overhead heat on for about 12 hours a day, i just built a new cage, which is in my gallery if you want to see it, and didn't make enough room for an UTH so i was wondering how many people just use overhead ...
