My girl is getting ready to lay her second ever clutch. The first clutch i didn't have an egg box for and she just layed the eggs on the repti-carpet. This time i am ready for her, and she just won't go in the egg box. She is searching everywhere for a good place to lay, but won't go in. Do you all put the holes on the top of the container or the side? I have the hole on the side of a sour-cream container. Any suggestions? Thanks

That's how we set ours up and our females never had a problem with them before. Maybe if you gave her something a little larger to permit a deeper level of substrate it would help. What kind of substrate is in the lay box? What happens if you carefully direct her in to the box, does she stay or immediately leave? What temperature is the laying box at?

the substrate in the box is vermiculite. I'm not sure what the temp in there is, but its right beside the warm hide that they use all the time. So i guess that it should be the same temperature then.

I tried guiding her in there late lastnight, but she kinda freaked out when i picked her up. I thought it would be better to let her find it on her own then stress her like that again.
