There will already be air in the container. Leave the little guy alone until he is completely out. I usually move mine to their own place after they have hatched, but some people leave them in the incubator for up to 24 hours (high humidity). I guess it just becomes a personal preference at that point. In any case, try to leave her / him alone until he's out.

he is already out. The process only seemed to take a bit over an hour. He is in a cage with a very shallow water dish a hide and his egg.

... and don't forget the lunge. Actually I've only had 2 hatchlings that were screamers. My first 4 didn't at all and I couldn't figure out what everyone was talking about, but they sure can be vocal when they want to be!!
I would also be sure to put a little cap of calcium (I know he won't go near it right away, but it's there when they want it). Is the hide a moist hide or just a cave? I usually use an old toilet paper tube for a place to hide other than their moist hide.
BTW... Congrats on the hatchling. :)

Congrats Matt! I think you can safely ditch the egg now.... she won't be needing it anymore, and it's likely to grow something nasty...:D Now, did anyone tell you that hatchling won't eat until after her first shed?? Count on 5 days minimum, all the way up to 19 (for me) max. Watch for the first shed, the first poop, remember to check the toes and you should be good to go. Keep her papertowel moist until then.....and leo hatchlings should be kept to the warm side of 90 if you have the option...
