I got a little baby leo at the show on Sunday. He/she is my first leo................my question is..........is it normal for them to be pyscho?............lol, I have been leaving it alone to adjust to the new surrounding, etc. but I lifted the hide a tiny bit yesterday morning just to check that everything was ok and the thing went CRAZY........running around, hissing/barking and trying to bite (actually made contact with the hide a few times..........) I don't know if this is normal or not.?.....
the new girl that i got on sunday it running around like crazy checking out her new surroundings ... i would say it is normal for the first while, mine is not hissing/barking at all, i have never had a leo do that to me before so i can't say anything about that part.

That incident was pretty much the only time "Peanut" has come out of the hide that I have seen. I know there has been movement because the crickets I put in are gone and there is some "gifts" left for me to clean up..........lol. Peanut is in the animal room so I am not in there constantly.............could be coming out a lot for all I know.........lol. That reaction really took me by surprise, we have leos at my store and they are so sweet, not big on being handled but certainly not aggressive by any means. They were adults already when I took over the store. I'm just wondering if the little one is acting on the instinct that when they are so small, they get defensive about everything.........?

The new leo I just hatched a couple weeks ago freaked out for a bit too. Now, instead of running, he's got quite the bit of confidence, running up to me to keep me from spraying down his humid hide spot. It was almost like a mock charge, really funny to see at his size. My old savannah monitor didn't even have that kind of guts.

if he/she is doing everything normal, leaving you presents and such, i wouldn't be to worried, there was a recent post from someone that said there leo was very shy and didn't like to be handled at all, and they have worked for the past 2 years to try and get it to be tame and like being handled and finally it doesn't bother it now so it might just be time. It is a new surrounding and still young so i wouldn't be worried at all, and being small i would be scared of everything that came near me as well. with time and you handling him/her more often they will calm down and won't react in such a way.

Yes, I read the same post. I expected some adjustment time, etc. but didn't expect such a violent reaction..........ahhhh well, we'll see what happens over time I guess.............

When they're young this can be how they react to change. I got a 3 month old girl last summer that screamed and wagged her tail every time I came near for about the first 2 weeks I had her. Now she runs up my arm as soon as I put my hand in her enclosure.

AHhhh... I don't reckon that hatchling is a blizzard?? Just a wild guess :D Really, some hatchlings like to put on quite the show, but most settle nicely with a little time.
painted desert: why would you think a blizzard, are they known for this type of behaviour vs a normal or tang or something else?
Blizz's are known to be phycotic for the first couple months of there life it seams to be part of there genetics.

that's a good pic painted ... s/he probably thinks they are hurting you a lot, little do they know ...
are any other genetics known for this behaviour when they are young or old for that matter?

I'm not great at the morphs, but Peanut is definately not a blizzard.............I am guessing a normal............nice picture though, I'm sure mine would do the same at this point............lol

Is there any chance Peanut could have some blizzard genes? I know what PD is saying as the one I mentioned earlier was a blizzard... and they really can be quite psychotic.
Mabey he is het for blizz?
