How do I go about shipping a 4.5 foot boa from North Carolina to Florida? My sister doesn't have the room for him anymore and I wanted to ship him down here. My question is, what do I need to ship him in? where can I get it? and can it be done? Any kinda info or web pages of the products on this would help. Thanks,
Alex

I am going thru there next weekend and will end up in Thomasville, Ga. 30 minutes from Tallahassee, Fl. That should be less about 4 hours from you. If you want to make that drive and I am going near your sisters town, I would be glad to help you out. e-mail me at sam4msu@mchsi.com by noon on Monday Apr 19 as I will be leaving to head up that way early on Tuesday morning.

I really appreciate the offer, but between school and both my jobs it will be hard for me to drive the 4 hours there and then the 4 hours back. Besides, how do I know you won't take off with my snake and make me drive all that way and no snake... LoL, j/k. And the enclosure hasn't fully aired out yet. I'd have no where to put him in the mean time. I was wondering how would you ship a 4.5 foot boa through the mail... If anyone has done this please let me know how to go about this. Thanks again Sam4snakes...

Put the snake in a snake bag inside of a suitably sized styrofoam container, and put that in a cardboard box. If anything needs securing due to size you can always use crumpled newspaper to buffer. Air cargo is the best way to ship. I don't know about your ground carriers, but up here it is illegal to ship reptiles and are typically a disaster when they are shipped regardless of that.

Hi, I’ve had a 7 foot boa sent too me before, was placed in a pillow case inside a box with a hot water bottle for warmth, sent via air on a heated plane, but this was in Canada, I’m not sure about the states, easiest thing too do would be cal your local air port and ask about live package. Good luck,
Devon

The best way is with Delta Dash, contact Delta and ask about live cargo thru Delta Dash. Should cost anywhere from $40.00-$60.00

Additional heat sources are only necessary under certain conditions. Styros insulate so they will help maintain the ambient temperature they were packed in. Shipping from North Carolina to Florida wouldn't require any heat right now as they are both quite toasty.
