This is what happens when fat tails don't have humid hides. I got him about 3-4 months ago and he is 3 years old. He has made a great recovery. His feet seem to be pretty healthy now and he's gaining weight fast. Thanks for looking.

I found it ironic that his only toe left on his left foot is the middle one. I think it's his tribute to the previous owner.
that poor guy =( thats the worst case of low humidity i'v ever seen. i hope he gets better, hes really cute.

It's sad what happens to these guys when proper care isn't given. Good Luck with that cute litte footless gecko!!!

How can anyone not notice there's a problem? It took 3 years for them to clue in??????
I'm glad you got him, it's about time he got a decent home :)

Does he still manage to get around pretty good??? Does he seem to mind not having feet, do they appear to cause him any problems???
It still boggles my mind on how people can just block this kind of stuff out, and just not care.

Poor Guy. How hard is a humid hide spot???? and even still, how could someone let it get that bad! Well he's safe now :) Good luck with him!

He still gets around pretty well. The guy I got him from had him as a pet for his son. He said he had been having shedding problems as long as he'd had him, but thought it was a problem with the gecko, not with his husbandry. He called me up to see if I would buy him because his son wasn't taking care of him anymore. When I told him why he was having those problems he gave him to me instead. All he needs now is to gain a few more grams and find a girlfriend and he'll be set for life.

That is ridiculas! Even I know to give a leo a humid hide during shed, and I have never once read a care sheet or anything like that on them! Most PET SHOPS even know to give them a humid hide!
I know how people can do that. My mothers beardie "was acting weird" last night and not eating. Loss of muscle tone. Seemingly the same symptoms as the other one. That had some kind of....well I don't know, they never took him to a vet, just to some pet shop where a guy breeds them (for money). They wanted to force feed her!
Come on, loss of muscle tone did not happen over night.......I just don't get it.
People like that need to be beat.
I'm glad that the little leo is in good hands now. Atleast he will have a happy rest of his life! :)

He can catch crickets without too much trouble, although he's been getting mostly small silk worms and wax worms that are easier to catch. It doesn't slow him down as much as you might think. He's quite a trooper.
Giving him silkworms is a good idea spoiling him is a great thing to do after what he went through.
