It will take several days for them to start to stink and look bad.
40C is way too hot. If it didn't kill them they could come out looking like pretzels
You should never try to heat up eggs by putting them near lights or on heat tape or UTH's...
Low temps are far safer than hot ones..
Its alswasy best to simply leave them on an unheated shelf in the herp room, if there is no proper incubator available.

I would consider the clutch a complete loss. If anything hatches from it after being that hot they will most likely be malformed. Depending on how long they were at that temp they are probably all "soft poached" already. Sorryt about your luck, DOH!

How long did they get upto 40C? If it was only a couple hours you should be fine.........if it was longer then you probably killed them.

We had sinaloan eggs get that hot, for over a day.
To our suprise, we got 100% hatchrate and all the babies were perfect.

Corey Woods and Scales Zoo dude yeah I have a huge feeling they will be fine the look perfect, hopefully i get 100% perfect eggs. thanks for the replys
We had a spike (35C+) in our incubator. Probably about half a day. We lost pretty much 80% of the eggs. Those which came out were snake pretzels (as Roy mentioned). Upon opening up the other eggs, we found full-partial formed embryos. All dead. Hopefully you're as lucky as SCALES Zoo.

I hope I'm wrong & you have the same luck as others posted. Mark
Oh man that sucks. Good luck with the eggs that would be horrible to loose them all.
Corn, king and jungle corn eggs.
