We had a Leopard gecko hatch yesterday. He was layed exactly 30 days ago. If that sounds weird,in the egg were 3 other formed geckos. We are not sure if the little gecko that hatche even has eyes??? Has anyone ever heard of this? The eggs are incubated at 82 degrees.

Could be possible because ive be suggested to put it at 85-88 so maybe it was a bit low perhaps?

Sadly imo he/she couldnt live without eyes...unless you really wanted to give it a chance and hand feed it everytime for its life...up to you really...

Males are usually produced around 86. If the eggs are incubated at 82, mostly females will be produced. I don't know why they would hatch so quickly. I can understand if you have them at a higher temperature they might hatch a bit quicker but not that quick.

Quadruplets? That's something for the record books.
Do you have pictures? Not that I'm sick, I'm just curious about the size of the embryos. I'm thinking the egg didn't hatch, it's more like it was jam packed with geckos and just popped the shell.
What's in the water in Edmonton? I'd switch to the bottled type. :)

Wow, now that's amazing! IMO the babies would hatch sooner just due to the cramping in the egg. Kinda like when a human has twins or triplets-they are usually born much sooner. Never give up even on the ones that seem like they could never make it. I've seen some crazy recoveries. Good luck with the herd! Hopefully I'll get a chance to check this thread out again soon. Also, was the egg at all deformed? Just curious. Take care, hope you get some pics up.

How come you don't know if it has eyes or not? Do try to get pics. That's really neat... I've never heard of so many geckos crammed in a single egg! I would have to agree with Julie's theory of why they may have hatched so early.

They can indeed hatch that quick at higher temps. We incubate our males at 88 and have had them pop out as early as 28 days.

very strange that he actually hatched.
I guess he could be not fully formed.
82 in 30days is very VERY fast, maybe a 88

Try to post pic, we all want to see that
try to exposed it less to light, his skin could be sensitive

Are any of the others alive, and just biding their time in there? Maybe they ran out of yolk? Because an egg has split doesn't necessarily mean they won't survive, if they weren't deceased when the other hatched.
I'd love to see photos of this, too.
