hey everyone, we got a leo that we believe is pregnant but we can't tell for sure.....when you look at her belly it looks fat and we think we can see eggs (she's really squirmy)........the only problem is that instead of white where the eggs should be, she is all pinkish red.......what does this mean? she has also become very lathargic these last couple days and she is getting fatter and fatter in the belly area (her tail is staying fairly fat, not much change there) if any of you have any idea's as to what this could be (pregnancy or not) let us know, we'll work on getting some pics of her, but in the meantime any idea's would be helpful

thnx,

you could look in a dark room with a small pocket lamp all around
her belly, you put her in a transperant cup and look.
it take around 1-2 month before the 1st eggs are laid so wait :)
give her a laying box

Why would it take 2 months for the first eggs to be layed? It is more like 2-4 weeks.

If your not sure just make sure you put a nest box in her cage and keep it moist so if she is gravid then she has somewhere to lay.

Depending on when fertilization took place she could lay eggs within a couple weeks after. Most of my females are around the 17 day mark between clutches. Keep an eye on her and be sure she has a laying box. Sounds to me like she's gonna pop soon. Lethargy is normal. as well as a lack of appetite and roaming. It's common to see a lot of pink or red in the abdoman even when they are gravid. Try to get her to walk onto your hand then push her gently to get her to walk off of your finger tips onto a box or some other object. Look at her belly as she climbs down. You should be able to get a good look at the potential eggs that way. Good luck and I sure she's just fine, no worries. Take care,

Julie
