hey everyone!

we just had a gecko lay two eggs on friday! it's the first time we have seen leo eggs up close and my god they're big! lol! anyways, at first one of them looked to be infertile while the other one (from what i heard) looked good. dan from canadian captive bred gave me some pointers on how to set up the incubator and now both eggs look nice and healthy (i took a quick peek tonight) we are hoping to have babies in a bit and are incubating the eggs at about 80 degrees.....does anyone know the average length of incubation at this temp? i forgot to ask dan and i was just curious.....oh and for those of you wondering, the incubator wasn't set up before hand as we didn't know she was pregnant! we just thought she was puting on some weight......but she wasn't and my girlfriend called me at 7am in a panic because she didn't know what to do! lol! well, we'll keep you updated on how the eggs are doing and how the (hopefully) new mom is doing (right now she is doing great, eats like a pig again!)

P.S. dan, if you're reading this, thnx a lot for the leo's! the females are doing great with my other females and the male is doing just fine in the 10 gallon i have him in right now (i'm hoping to pick up a 20 gallon for him later this month) thnx again!

Most of mine hatch around 60 days when kept at 80-80F. Don't be surprised if they go longer, or hatch sooner, the 60 days is probably average though.

Good for you...... Congrats...... Do not be suprized and beat yourself up if the eggs are not fertile....... First clutches are most of the time not viable..... But dont worry, there will be one or two more coming in the next two weeks or so...... Good luck.....

pinnheadguy -----> our setup is a styrafoam container w/ lid, an exo-terra heat pad (we have three towels over top of the container to trap the heat) and then on the inside of the container we have a tupperware container w/ lid, perlite as a substrate, and then the two eggs. this setup seems to be working out good for now, but when we decide to breed our leo's on purpose (not accidentally like this time) i'll be converting an old mini fridge into an incubator.......not sure right now what i'll use for that one tho......time will tell! lol!
