(Breeding) Does it look promising or not?

I put my Bcc together in the first week of January. Well, in the past week there hasn't been any copulation between my two Bcc. They just sorta cuddle a lot these days. They did copulate for quite some time prior to this, but the interest seems to have worn off. I'm going to seperate them tonight for a feeding since they aren't breeding anymore. I'm just wondering if this behaviour is indicative of a failed attempt, or if things may still happen. I haven't noticed any signs of ovulation, nor have I have observed any different behaviour from either of them. They are always together, just lounging around :rolleyes:

The trick is getting the female to ovulate. You'll know when it happens, as they get very big and its fairly sudden.
All you can do is keep her well fed, and hope she goes.
Contrary to what people may think,common boas aren't as easy to breed as many other boids.
And Red tails are even tougher.
I know several seasoned herpers that kept boa constictors for years, without getting a single litter, while first time keepers will often produce them, almost like beginners luck.
The season is still early Linds.

As you know I don't have a whole lot os experience to speak from, but it wasn't that long ago that I was thinking the same things you are :)

With my Hogs, after the female had lost interest she would throw the male off of her as he still had plenty of interest. This is when I separated them. I was told by a few boa guys to leave them together as long as possible and such, but I figured I'd go by what the boas telling me.

If I was seeing what you are describing, I would likely keep cycling and leave them together for a bit.

I probably wasn't of much help, but I figured I'd share :)

Well I always had the idea that if the male was done his job, you will see him trying to escape.

My pair of BCIs began mating back in late September and this carried through until mid to late December......... by January , they were pretty much ignoring each other.......... my female is pregnant and getting pretty fat .............. Good luck ! Les

Wanted to get a meal in the female. Gave them a day and then offered them each a meal, she's not hungry but he ate. She's never been a great feeder though, it's been about 6 weeks since her last meal :/

Good luck with your girl too! Doesn't sound like ya need it with her track record though. Also, pregnant = mammals, snakes are termed gravid.
