Almost caught him, but he scooted away to deeper waters JUST before I was about to nab him. Saw a bunch of these, so the pond is in great shape!! I even saw a pair mating but my cheapo 16MB compact flash was outta space!!

Its a northen Roushskinned Newt. Taricha granulosa granulosa

what is the difference between newts and salamanders? Do newts carry the same skin toxins as some salamanders? What types of predators affects these newts? Thanks

Nothin' eats these newts up here. Well, everything eats the larvae, but nothing touches the adults. They are super-toxic.
