i was just wondering out of the monitor enthuasist on this site which people here would actually be interested in purchasing cbb nile monitors cuz right now i have some 3 footers that i am rasising to adults and i am going to try to breed them but i wanna know who would actually be interested in buying them cuz i want to breed just so we don't have to import them anymore but i don't won't to breed and no one buy them because the price will be higher then wc one. the last thing i wanna worry about is ending up wit 10-20 baby niles on my hand that no one wants to buy

Why?

10-20 niles? Id be surprised to see 1-2 hatch successfully, not bashing you but its not very common to see that kind of number laid nonetheless hatch.

hm... if you were able to breed your monitors (big IF) and you were able to hatch them (another big IF), you'd be able to find homes for the babies. You may not get hundreds of dollars for them, but even if you ended up giving them away wouldn't it still be worth it for the experience of breeding them? Not to mention that the few babies you produced would be that many fewer that needed to be imported.

If you are thinking of getting into this for the money, get a different hobby.

i was going to get into it for the money but like honestly i would need to sell them for like 100 bucks and the main thing is ppl can get them for 50 then why buy a cb when they can get a cheap wc

because a cb will be much healthier, and possibly calm?
why get a cb anything if you can get a wc for cheeper...because as i said, better quality of animal with less problems in the long run

I made my statement based on the 10-20 nile post. Thanks for better informing me on their egg-laying numbers.:)

Breeding Niles for money probably isnt gonna work in my opinion. Its better to have captive breed animals for sure but the reality is that pet stores and such dont care in the long run. Breeding niles would be more of an experience than a business venture in my opinion. But in the end it remains up to you.
