View Full Version : Live Eater
I am considering a new snake. She is an '02 striped (and I've always wanted a striped) however I have just heard back from the seller to say that she seems to prefer live prey (he only recently got her in a trade), which has left me feeling a little unsure about whether or not to proceed. I really prefer to feed f/t, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to convince her to switch to f/t if she has been feeding on live for this long? Any thoughts?

Give it a try. Will not hurt. IMO, your going to find out dead meals will be accepted rather easily.

If it was a ball python I would say it would be hard to convert, but with a corn there is a very good chance she will take thawed the first time it is offered. You may have to use a fresh killed once or twice, but I would give it a good couple weeks before the first feeding once I got it to make sure it was hungry and then offer thawed - bet she will take it.
I think you should get her - stripes are great and I want to see photos!

Thanks guys, but darn! I wasn't really on the market for a new snake just now but thanks to someone on this forum (who shall remain nameless!) posting a link to this site, I saw the pic of this girl and, well, I couldn't help myself from getting interested. I was looking for people to talk me out of this, and instead you make it seem too easy....
Oh - I could post a photo now but it would be from the website where I found her. Not sure on the ethics of posting someone else's photo? (Please advise?)
haha I agree with everyone else. When it comes to corns, I never really bother caring if they are feeding on live or not since they are insane easy to switch over. Good luck!

I would also take it and convert it! :)
With the photo thing, it's usually a good idea to ask before posting the photo.
