Well today being sunday and all, it's "Clean the cages day" and low and behold i get to my leo colony and theres two eggs sitting in the sand, wedge underneath a rock, now this is quite a shock, as i was unaware there was a male in my female leo colony....so i continued my search and whats this??? yet again another two eggs, these ones were completely burried in the substrate, now i know they havent been in there long, cause i did a spot check yesterday so they must have been laid last night, so this morning i quickly searched the net, found a site on how to make a home made incubator out of a aquarium and heater, and went to work, now i have the eggs sitting in this lil incubator with some vehemiculite or however you spell it, but the two eggs that were burried in the substrate have a dent in both the eggs, how can i fix this? right now the temp is running at about 86 degrees i heard that a lil humidity is good, just not to make it so that it becomes excessive and makes everything moist? is this correct?? if anyone could possibly direct me to a proper guide or somthing that will help me! i'd greatly appreciate it, and also both the eggs are covered in sand, i tried to remove as much as possible gently, but im to afraid to use any force to get the rest off, is this ok? once again any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, I have an idea how the eggs might have got there, even if there aren't any males in the colony, Females in the wild sometimes make "clones" in the wild I'll have to find the site about eggs I'll look for it

just to update, i read that some females will become gravid regardless if a male is available or not, however just to void that point, sure enough....there was indeed a male in the colony, he has since been removed and placed into his own set up, but once again if anyone can help with the "indented eggs" and also direct me to a post/website where i can find more info on incubating the eggs i'd greatly appreciate it

no the site doesn't have anything about dented eggs

Ixidor, cloning is an ability that few species have. The female leopard gecko needs to find a male to successfully reproduce.

A female leopard gecko can lay eggs even if she hasnt met a male, only thing is that they will never be fertile.

Yup, female leos lay eggs even without a male present. They just simply aren't fertilized with the male. As far as the dented eggs, it's normal. Keep an eye on them through the incubation process and if they dent even more lay a moist paper towel over them for a few hours up to a day and they may "plump" up. Good luck with them.

Yea the indents probably mean that there a little under hydrated..try to raise, or keep, the humidity high and they should out-dent and hatch with some luck :) good luck!

Visit my caresheet link on my site, for info on breeding/incubation along with some pics for a visual aid. Tim/Julie's idea regarding placing a moist paper towel on the denty eggs is a good one, try doing that.
Best of luck!
