I was wondering about that black light thing thats supposed to be like moonlight. Is it really like moonlight? Is it a good heat source? And can you just plug it into a regular lamp (clamp lamp)?
It will be for a 5 ft long leopard gecko tank if that helps any.

Leos are so easy, they can accept a whole assortment of lights!!

Those bulbs produce a neat effect. I used to use them on my leos I had a few years ago. It's good because you can leave them on 24 hours a day. It produces something that looks MUCH more like "moonlight" than a red bulb. It's really neat late at night and in fact does look something like novelty moonlight.

And yes the bulbs work like all other standard bulbs. It would be fine for a large tank, although I cannot say if one or what wattage will achieve the temp you want.

well they are just a normal light bulb so yea id say you can fit in any lamp with a normal bulb fixture...looks cool though, id have to try that

Yes they are just normal bulbs. They are just colored, thats all. Just like red bulbs or white bulbs. Same thing but with a different coating. Its not all that different at all from a red light. Just purple light.

those are pretty cool bulbs for night. if you have a bigger water bowl like i have (almost like a little pond) in my new 30 gal. tank its really cool cause the light kind of dances off the water and the bulb really makes it look like the grasslands at night.
