Attack of the mites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My snakes have mites.
It's the first time.
Where do they come from?
I got them out.
But I think they will come back.
How do I get rid of them?
I am using REPTI-BARK.

ok first of all heres what you need to do...

1) ok first throw out her/his old bedding and bye new stuff take out alll her stuff .

2) take out her hidebox, branches and so on and disinfect them good. to disinfect boil in hot hot water for 20 mins then bake for 1 hr on high.

3) also disinfect the cage.

just keep an eye on her if they return you'll have to get rid of the mites and get rid of the bedding and repeat steps one two and three.

as for your question on where do they come from theres many possiblities...

-maybe your cats got some on them and when grooming themselfs some fur they were on with mites carried up in to your snakes cage.

- if you use branches from outsid e and failed to properly disinfect them maybe they got in that way.

it's impossible to tell but as long as you disinfect the tank then they shouldn't return if they do you know what to do
